Is Sugar making your body Toxic

Is Sugar making  Your Body Toxic

Here is a Video that  will show you how sugar not only causes heart disease and diabetes, but also feeds tumors and causes them to grow, plus is as addictive as Cocaine to your brain……( making you crave more and more and ……..)

Everyone needs to watch this video from a recent episode of 60 Minutes.  I don’t think most people understand  just how harmful sugar is to your health OR the seriousness of this epidemic.  Most people blindly eat and drink loads of sugar each day, unbeknownst to most of them. (Americans consume an incredible 1/3 lb of sugar per DAY on average). How is this internally affecting your body and your biochemistry?

Please share this page with all of your family and friends so they can be empowered to deeply, positively affect their health, well being and longevity.

What I believe  is that food manufacturers want you to be addicted to sugar and continue to buy their junk food and sugar laden products which will destroy your health.

It really should be no surprise to anyone today that  excess sugar consumption contributes to obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Your argument might be that some natural sugars have always been a part of the human diet, and why would this be an issue?  Yes, we have always eaten small amount from fruit ( in season )….this was a part of our ancestral diet.  But for the first time in history we are exposed to massive quantities of ADDED sugars. Just look at an average street corner in any city in America ( usually at least two shops of the four corners are selling,  flavored coffees, muffins, cakes, cookies, sweets, sweets, and more sweets. AND sugar is hiding in most of the condiments, dressings and tomatoes sauces to boot!

The average American eats a gross 130 lbs of sugar per person per year, or 1/3 lb per day!  Personally I think this is just blatant disrespect for the body….or ignorance. WAKE UP…..make some changes NOW.

Did you also see in the video how in one controlled study, they replaced 25% of the daily calories of the subjects with sugary drinks, then took blood tests every 30 minutes around the clock?  These tests showed that by replacing 25% of their daily calories with sugary drinks, the subjects increased their dangerous small dense LDL particles in their blood which causes arterial plaque and heart disease.  Soooo….. sugar and carbs contribute more to hurting our  hearts than fats do.

And did you also catch the bit about how sugar feeds tumors and can make cancer worse? Yikes!

Finally, some evidence by the medical community that proves what I was taught over 20 years ago ( and-FYI, it was really hard for me to change back then )….SUGAR is bad stuff.

If you must have something sweet…..check the studies about honey and some other natural sweeteners…. in small amounts they are not anywhere near as bad for you as the “white stuff”( remember the white stuff is processed)….stay away from HGFS and when you indulge try a piece of 85 % dark chocolate OR Raw chocolate….YUM ( not the whole bar…just a square.)

There are so many other great foods to eat and with the internet now, a plethora, an infinite number of recipes are just waiting to tantalize the taste buds. Save the sweets for special occasions……feast on those days ( not everyday!)

Please take just a moment right now and as I mentioned at the start of this message…share this with everyone you know and love!

3 Powerful Tips for Reducing Stress Today

3 Powerful Tips for Reducing Stress Today

1. Timing is Everything (especially WHEN eating)

Many turn to eating as a form of comfort when stressed. Did you know that eating your meals and snacks at certain times of the day can help you dial down your stress-ometer?

If you let yourself get too hungry your blood sugar levels will drop. This drop will put extra stress on you by making your adrenal glands work harder….this can create fatigue like symptoms, irritability and even weight gain. We recommend the following schedule to help lessen your adrenal burden:

  • Do your best to eat breakfast by 8:00 AM or within an hour of getting up.
  • Eat lunch ideally between 11:00 AM and noon.
  • Eat a nutritious snack between 2:00 and 3:00 PM because if you do not you may experience a dip in your energy levels that normally hits about 3:00 or 4:00 PM.
  • Dinnertime is best around 5:00 or 6:00 PM.

2. Exercise: For better results…..TRY a slower pace!

When you hear the word exercise…do you cringe? Does it sound like a lot of do you fit it in?  If you feel stressed it seems that fitting one more thing in your daily schedule will just push you over the top. But here is the truth….. if you are recovering from a stressful period, exercising too much may add to the burden your body is experiencing already.

Here are some gentle alternatives:

Walk outside for 15 minutes after meals.

Take a restorative yoga class

Or do a lighter version of your normal exercise routine.

Spring is on its way and since winter is naturally a time for “hibernation”, your body will be grateful to ease in to this transition along with the season.

Child’s Pose is great for restoration.

3. Relieve Stress with a Natural Remedy

Is getting out of bed for you a struggle in the morning? What about calming down to get to sleep at night?  Have you wondered why you crave salt or regularly turn to sugar or caffeine  to boost your energy?  All of these signs can mean that “stress” may be negatively affecting your body. Sugar and caffeine may be a quick fix, but over the long term they can deplete your reserves, and even make you feel even worse.

There are many effective, natural remedies that can boost your energy and help your body adapt to the stressors in your life.

Here are a couple of remedies to try…but please talk to an alternative health care professional and do your own research if you have questions.

  • Astragalus root (A. membranaceus). Astragalus aids in the body’s natural ability to adapt to stress, bolstering the immune system so you stay well while helping to regulate normal blood sugar levels and alleviate insulin resistance.
  • Cordyceps (C. sinensis). Cordyceps is a prized antioxidant fungus that can slow aging and take a load off the adrenals by supporting the immune system, balancing the inflammatory response and helping to stabilize blood sugar.
  • Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus, formerly called Siberian ginseng). As I mentioned above, eleuthero is an adaptogenic herb that can help protect us against the negative effects of stress, while decreasing fatigue, enhancing mental clarity, helping to balance blood sugar, and even perhaps supporting bone remodeling as well.

A Must read if you want to eat Dessert again

So many moms contact me wanting to know what I could recommend as healthy alternatives to sugary treats through the holidays…to keep themselves and their families healthy.

I am so happy to have found, Isabel de los Rios….. she has put into action, what I have been living for years; a program for busy moms wanting to live a life that is healthy without denying themselves any of the enjoyment of making, eating and serving tasty meals and treats. ~ Mona

The excitement is in the air!  Yes, many people are excited for the upcoming holiday season, but what I’m talking about is the excitement around the new recipe book we are creating together in Beyond Diet.

If you missed last week’s newsletter, I announced that all of us (yes, that includes you) will be creating a healthy recipe book filled with “Isabel approved” delicious desserts.  This recipe book will help you get through the holiday season without feeling deprived of your sweet treats.  The best news is that you will get access to it online at no cost to you (now that’s pretty sweet, right?)

Thank you so much to those who have already submitted their wonderful recipes.  It looks like I’m going to be busy in the kitchen for quite a while!

For those of you who can’t imagine how you can make a tasty dessert that’s delicious and healthy at the same time, I’ve got several easy suggestions and ingredients substitutions for you today that will make your dessert creations “Isabel approved”.

Coconut flour and Almond Meal/Flour.

I’ve successfully used coconut flour or almond flour/meal instead of white flour or whole wheat flour in many cake, cookie and bread recipes (my son is a huge fan of the banana bread recipe below).  I have found both of these flours at most supermarkets and have also ordered them online (>> Almond Meal and >> Coconut flour)

>> Banana Nut Bread made with Almond Flour

Baking Stevia

Most desserts contain an incredibly high amount of sugar, which makes them really unhealthy and not a good addition to your fat loss plan.  That is where baking stevia comes to the rescue.  For every 2 cups of sugar in a recipe, you can replace it with 1 cup of Steviva Blend , without all those grams of sugar.

>> Almond Cookies sweetened with Baking Stevia

Coconut Milk instead of Cow’s Milk

Just because you’re trying to stay away from dairy doesn’t mean you have to miss out on ice cream and other “creamy” desserts.  Organic coconut milk works great as a substitution for cow’s milk and many times tastes even better!

>> Easy to Make Coconut Milk Ice Cream

>> Coconut Whipped Cream <– Isabel’s personal favorite!

How to Find & Live the Life that You Love!

…..a Cure for any Disease?

The bugs are becoming Super….the junk food is becoming Super Sized? Hmmm any correlation?

Well I think there is…… It wasn’t too many years ago….in fact 40 years ago I remember as a kid I was sitting in front of the TV where a group of people were sitting in bleachers and a circle was drawn around one out of every 10. The commentator then said imagine “you could be 1 out of 10 that gets cancer” or something to that effect. I am not sure why that stood out in my mind for this many years…..but now I think the ratio for cancer is 1 in two. OMG! What happened?

Well I could go on and on but I suggest you go to this site and see for yourself. This is definitely something that your doctors don’t want you to know……or is it they don’t know so they cannot tell you?

Twenty years ago I got sick……my body let me know that it did not like what I was putting in it… all the chemicals that were streaming in my system from my work. Not surprising my body did not like the diet of coffee, bran muffins and frozen chicken pot pies, ammonia and formaldehyde.

Water, that was for bathing and showering in, it didn’t taste good to drink……have another coffee. What was I thinking….. I just didn’t know?

Here is the information we have all been waiting for…….. If this can work to reverse and heal diabetes…..what other diseases can be cured? Cancer?

Listen and then you decide.

To Your Health….To Your Life!!!

The Human Science Experiment

When did peanuts begin to cause so many deadly reactions in children?

My god, I ate peanut butter and jam sandwiches every day of my primary school life and never once had any serious or violent reactions or heard of any of my friends have these reactions either. What has happened?

I was told once that “cotton” was the most heavily pesticide laden  crop of all and that after harvesting cotton the field would then be planted with peanuts to, in effect, “cleanse” the soil to prepare for the next crop of cotton.

Now I do not know if that is exactly true – easy enough to find out though – a simple google search would probably do the trick.  But what I do know is that “god” or our creator would never create a food that would become a poison to so many.  Man must of had his hand in this somewhere.

Over 5000 chemicals/food additives are introduced to our food chain each year…. if you are curious about this grab yourself a copy of the “Consumer’s Guide to Food Additives”,  keep it on hand and when you pull that well preserved package of twinkies out of the cupboard – look up what is listed in the ingredients in this guide and then decide if you still want to put that in the machine that is designed to keep you going for the next 40 or 50 plus years.  Would you put that in your car?  No – the car wouldn’t work – soooo why put it in your body?

Common Sense – this is what I write about and rant about……. We all know what to do – what makes sense but we don’t do it – why? I know life is busy, packaged food is convenient, the microwave is fast ( better not start going on about micro waves this time).

Come on think about what your body needs to keep it healthy and full of energy. I wrote about this in my first blog post of this series.

Water, sleep, proper elimination, exercise, GOOD HEALTHY FOOD.

Yes we all like treats once in awhile – this is why there are celebrations – this is when we feast.  Every day however our bodies requires the clean, nutrient rich fuel that will energize our bodies and our brains so we can enjoy life.

The following are just a few of the worst chemicals you can put in or on ( yes on) your body.  Take a minute – do your own research.

I was my own human experiment.  For 20 years I was in the Salon/Beauty industry, breathing in and wearing, dyes, formaldehyde, ammonia, peroxide, sodium laurel sulfate.  I got so sick I eventually had to quit – good thing really.

Once you have done your research ask yourself – “am I part of the Human Science Experiment” ?  Where else can they put all the fillers and excess chemicals ? Well I am sure if enough of us stopped using these foods and products – another solution would have to be found.

Find out what products you find the following in and what they are doing to your body!

FD & C Colour Pigments

Polyethylene Glycol

( just to name a very few)

A good rule of thumb is if you can not pronounce the word – do not put it in your body.

As I mentioned we all know what to do – we just don’t always do it.  Think about it…how many years are you planning to live?
