Whatcha Thinkin?

You know I remember asking my dad starting around the time I was a teenager, as he poured over papers and papers of long division (he was figuring out the costs of running his business), whatcha doing, whatcha thinkin? I always thought he was an amazing man, self made, built his business from scratch with a grade 9 education. As I would ask this of him and ask him about his success – he would usually comment, “Well kiddo, I was just in the right place at the right time, and I wish I had more than sawdust for brains.”

I never really got what he meant and now I know he wasn’t really in “just the right place at the right time – although he thought so – the Laws that be – attracted to him his desire. But the Sawdust for brains comments always made me curious. I guess my dad just wished he were ‘smarter’. Then the time came where his mind did start to go….. the dementia and memory loss set in….. and as complicated as a dis-ease such as Alzheimer’s is, I now realize how much the health of our bodies affects the health of our brains and vice verse. The Cigarettes and Alcohol certainly did not help his cause either.

I would like to share with you vital information on the Brain and how it works. If your Brain is not ‘firing’ those messages properly to your body is it any wonder why your body may not be functioning optimally.

Brain Chemistry

For 90% of dieters, a deficiency in one of four key brain chemicals can trigger weight gain, fatigue, and stress. The key to losing weight doesn’t lie in deprivation diets; it lies in balancing our neurochemicals. Many nutritionists and advanced practitioners are focusing on how the brain affects our health.

How ACETYLCHOLINE impacts personality

Acetylcholine influences activity in the parietal lobe, the area of the brain responsible for processing sensory information, learning, memory and awareness. Insufficient levels of this chemical can cause attributes like forgetfulness, difficulty prioritizing tasks and an inability to relate to others. But as acetylcholine deficits are corrected, most women experience increased mental clarity, greater creativity, quicker thinking and improved empathy.

How GABA impacts personality

GABA is the primary neurotransmitter in the temporal lobe, the area of the brain that governs perception, attention, speech and motions. Low levels of this chemical have been linked to psychological symptoms such as insecurity, anxiety, excessive worrying, fear of new experiences, poor concentration and lock of impulse control, explains. But as GABA shortfalls are corrected, women regain calmness, dependability and objectivity.

How SEROTONIN impacts personality

Primarily produced within the occipital lobe, the area of the brain that regulates sight, serotonin is associated with mood, ambition, decision making and the ability to experience pleasure. Research in the journal Science suggests that low levels of this brain chemical can cause psychological symptoms like depression, impulsivity, suspiciousness, shortsightedness or aggressiveness. Fortunately, increasing levels of serotonin quickly improves confidence, restores rationality and boosts feelings of happiness.

Doing things in a Certain Way

I was thinking of writing a Blog post today about the abundance that abounds us as we look around we can see it everywhere.

Just look in nature at the number of leaves on a tree, the number of blades of grass beneath your feet and the number of drops of water in the ocean. Materially we know monetary abundance abounds. Look at the prestigious houses, the monumental high rises, the shops overflowing with merchandise to fill our lives and homes…….

So why is it many still focus on what is lacking? Yes of course it is good to recognize that there are some…more than there should be, that do not enjoy this abundance and we must all help as we can……

But what if – just what if ….everyone did things in a Certain Way……perhaps do you think that everything could change? The abundance of this earth and world could be shared by the most instead of the few? I guess you must decide that for yourself…keep reading the following from Rebecca Fine

Afloat in A Sea of Abundance

In the days of the mighty sailing ships, when brave souls voyaged into the unknown, dependent on the winds and their as-yet incomplete knowledge of geography and navigation, one of the greatest and most dangerous challenges was to traverse the area known as “the doldrums.”

Extending about 30 degrees on either side of the equator, the doldrums are subject to days, weeks, even months of no wind at all. After a long and difficult crossing from Europe to South America, lying becalmed in the doldrums — with no land in sight and with the ship’s supply of fresh water dwindling — was a terrible and life-threatening situation.

But history and legend offer us some fascinating insights into the power of our own thinking and belief. Back then no one had yet figured out how to determine longitude, although latitude was easily calculated. So if you could not see recognizable land, you could only know in what band of latitude you currently were. Exactly where you were in that ring around the earth was, at that time, unknowable.

And so it happened that at times a ship would fetch up off the coast of South America, out of sight of shore, fresh water supplies exhausted and death knocking at the door. Then, with what must have been the sweetest sound those sailors could ever have hoped for, the lookout would suddenly call out that a ship was approaching in the distance.

Once the ship was within hailing distance, the cry went up: “Water! Give us water!”

And the reply would come back, “Lower your buckets over the side.”

You see, although the sailors didn’t know it, they were afloat in a virtual river of drinkable and life-sustaining water flowing from the mouth of the powerful Amazon River, which carries nearly 20 percent of all the earth’s runoff water into the sea with such force that the fresh (or brackish but safe) water flows as far as 100 miles out into the Atlantic.

The sailors, dying of thirst, only THOUGHT they were experiencing lack. The REALITY was that they were afloat in a literal sea of abundance. Exactly what they needed was within their reach the whole time, but the APPEARANCE of scarcity and their BELIEF in that appearance threatened to overpower them.

They could have died — and many certainly did — believing in lack while surrounded by abundance.

In his amazing 1910 forgotten classic, The Science of Getting Rich, Wallace Wattles writes:

“I have said that people get rich by doing things in a certain way, and in order to do so, people must become able to think in a certain way.

“A person’s way of doing things is the direct result of the way he thinks about things.

“To do things in the way you want to do them, you will have to acquire the ability to think the way you want to think. This is the first step toward getting rich.
"And to think what you want to think is to think TRUTH, regardless of appearances.

A couple of months ago, my friend TERESA ROMAIN of Access Abundance [ www.accessabundance.com ] wrote in my ezine, The Certain Way, about how Galileo changed the world by looking at things from a new perspective. By dropping the prevailing attitude that the sun revolved around the earth, he was able to see that the opposite was, in fact, the truth.

The key to finding the truth, she noted, was choosing to cast off the old notion and look at the situation anew, through a new lens. Teresa wrote:

“The path that lies before you is one of unlimited abundance. And it begins by SEEING the abundance available all around you.

“As you begin to experience life through the new lens of abundance, you’ll find that many of the problems you face today will simply disappear. As for the ones that remain, your relationship to them will have changed profoundly, empowering you to take actions that are congruent with and support abundance.”

What old beliefs, what old ways of looking, seeing, and perceiving do YOU need to cast off right now, my friend? If you find yourself “in the doldrums,” how can you take a fresh look today and begin to see the abundance that surrounds YOU so that you are empowered — not becalmed and hopeless?

The choice is always available. If you have chosen unwisely before, remember that every moment is new and the great power lies in your ability to CHOOSE AGAIN, no matter the appearances and no matter what it seems everyone else thinks or does.

Teresa says that this choice “is the path that leads, ultimately, to the fulfillment of your dreams.” Mr. Wattles says this choice is “the first step toward getting rich.”

And, bearing in mind those long-ago sailors, I would add that this choice can be the ultimate choice — for death or for life itself.

That choice, every moment, is yours. Which way do you choose — right now?

Star Trek Medicine Has Arrived?

You may be asking – Ok Mona – what are you talking about Star Trek Medicine?

For those trekkies reading this I think you may know what I am talking about and perhaps like me, grew up watching Star Trek most Saturday afternoons ( in my case the only other option was All Star Wrestling – no thank you)

Let me paint the picture….. one of the main characters, Captain Kirk or Spock or Zulu would get hurt….they would rush him to sick bay and then Bones would say something like “ I am a Doctor – Not a Magician” while looking of course at the gravity of the situation and then Dr McCoy would scan for signs of life and severity of injury and from there would determine what to do ( usually a shot of some kind if I can recall or some energy sensor crystal moving over the body to heal it )

….ok fast forward to Four Weeks ago ……I was told about a healing treatment that has about 94% success rate…yes an alternative healing modality that is getting a lot of interest in some main stream hospitals. This Form of Healing begins with a test using Star Trek type technology. I am talking about Electro- Interstitial Scan Biosensor Technology.

The EIS-BF is a unique hardware/software computerized system that applies precise algorithms and proprietary formulas to generate onscreen, 3-D modeling representations of the human body systems.

Now that is a mouthful…. well quite simply in “my terms” I sat in front of a laptop computer with sensors on my head and my hands and feet on sensor pads and in 2 minutes the software produced an accurate report of where in my body I had “problems”….. It accurately reported my oxygen levels, ph levels, chronic patterns in any part of my physical structure and internal organs.
I viewed 3D images of my heart, head, brain, liver etc in awe. The information about my head was particularly interesting because it ( the EIS –BF) knew that I had had a head injury – something I passed off long ago as a bump on the head……but which in fact caused a lot more damage to my head and neck and body than I realized.

What was really cool was that this gave me a greater insight and understanding of my chronic digestive problems that started not too long after this smack on the head. The explanation given to me made complete common sense ( and those who know me I am a big fan of common sense)….if the brain has had any injuries even slight then the messages that are sent from the brain to the rest of the body may not be accurate or delivered properly ( again folks these are my terms – I am neither a scientist or a physician)…..

So imagine a technology that can measure and detect old and chronic injuries and then at the hands of a gifted Electro Crystal Therapy practitioner, balance these areas of the body by reducing inflammation and boosting depletion…..what an amazing miracle – that seems light years ahead of what we have today.

I will keep you updated on my progress with this technology and healing. I can tell you right now that after 4 session the inflammation in my colon that used to be called IBD is gone and I am very excited about how the other correction will affect my over all vitality and energetic stability.

A little background about me – very brief – I participated over about 20 years of my life in extreme sports and I have tried with varying levels of success most every healing modality on this planet with the exception of standing on my head whilst gargling peanut butter. Through this journey I have become very knowledgeable, by using my body as an experiment, as to what works well and what does not and have also become very skilled at guiding others to their best health.

More Precious than Gold

No this is not a Network Marketing Pitch or a Call for Investors (although in today’ Economic Climate you may want to hitch your horse to one of these options).

What could be more precious than gold you may be asking me?

Well when it comes to an Abundant and Healthy Life the answer is Minerals…..Minerals – yes that is what I said. Do you know that minerals may be THE critical ingredient that is missing from the body?

Research show that Minerals such as Magnesium and Iron are more precious for our bodies than silver and gold. I always say that your health is your life and your life is your health….. What kind of life do you have without YOUR Health?

Minerals are essential in most of our bodies’ functions, such as: digestion, nervous system, bone growth, hormone production, hair growth, insulin production, heart and muscle health  and so much more. It is important to know or remember that when our bodies do not get enough minerals from our food intake or supplementation we can become quickly mineral deficient.

Did you know just missing our minerals ONE day can severely affect our overall health?  
Ex: Iodine….only a fraction of a gram is necessary daily, this mineral plays a substantial role in balancing your body; including temperature, weight gain/loss, hormones, heart rate, blood pressure and energy levels.

…because our soils around the globe are severely deficient in minerals the presence of minerals in our food has declined at an alarming rate. Interestingly now we may have to eat 2, 3, or 6 apples to keep up with the decrease in minerals. Not only is it soil depletion that is affecting the mineral content of our foods but also the high degree of processing that is done to our foods today.

How can you help keep the levels of mineral content in YOUR body at its highest? Lifestyle choices of course, such as: reducing the consumption of caffeine and alcohol, eliminating cigarette smoking, eating a more alkaline diet, drinking clean alkaline water.  Other factors that decrease minerals in our bodies that are within our control are; reducing stress, eliminate mega dosing of isolated minerals ( ex calcium which greatly affects the magnesium levels in your body) and be aware of over-exertion which can leech minerals from your system. All these factors combined contribute to severe mineral deficiencies.

Now you know why, if you drink caffeine, have a couple of cold beer each night, work overtime, only get 6 hours sleep each night, and never drink more that ½ glass of water a day…..WHY you are so drained!

Remember each mineral has its own unique role in the body….a combination of minerals working together is needed for a certain function.
Ex: to remodel bone the body requires calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, boron, iron, fluoride, copper and vitamins A, K, E, C and D to make your bones strong and healthy. Where can you get these minerals in your diet? The most plentiful supply of minerals is found in leafy green vegetables and these are usually the least consumed.

*Hint – the darker more vibrant the food colour – the more nutrient dense the food is…ex: bright red cherries, blueberries, yellow ripe bananas, rich red tomatoes, dark green cucumbers, bright orange yams, vibrant green romaine lettuce, dark green spinach.*

And one other thing to remember for complete mineral utilization in the body, minerals need vitamins, vitamins need protein and protein needs enzymes.

Remember to keep eating a wide variety of nutrient rich, deeply coloured fruits and vegetables daily. Select organic preferably and if cooking only lightly steam to retain most of the minerals needed to give you energy and heal and repair your body daily.

What is the Effect of Thought on Health and the Body?

In the book “As a Man Thinketh” published in 1902…James Allen writes about the effects of THOUGHT on Health and the Body….. 1902??? I am sure many people, especially those who were allopathically inclined, thought he was flat out nuts……

But today thank goodness most practitioners (not all) but most, view the body as a whole which of course includes the mind. Pretty obvious I must say, as stress is listed right up there with the top medical ailments, as a cause of many medical ailments. Yes, sure, there is physical stress…but I think today there is so much FEAR that the mind is in overload and if there is no outlet for the mind, such as, a friend to lend an ear, a supportive spouse or government, the illusion of job security…the mind can run rampant and cause visible physical symptoms both acute and chronic.

What can one do? Well, it may be handy to get yourself a copy of As a Man Thinketh and read the two short pages and gain volumes of insight into this epidemic.

Here are a couple of excerpts from the book to get you “thinking” differently, to change your physiology.

“Disease and Health, like circumstances, are rooted in thought. Sickly thoughts will express themselves through a sickly body. Thoughts of fear have been known to kill a man as speedily as a bullet, and they are continually killing thousands of people just as surely though less rapidly.(remember this was written in 1902) The people who live in fear of disease are the people who get it.”

(ex: my mother used to say to me repeatedly….”Mona, both your grandparents *her mom and dad* died of angina in their mid sixties, I wouldn’t be surprised if I do too.” Well my mom did not die of angina – but in her mid sixties she suffered a near death experience – a severe Angina attack with near fatal complications….her quality of life was not nearly the same after…..she passed away 7 years later.)

“Strong, pure and happy thoughts build up the body in vigour and grace. The body is a delicate and plastic instrument, which responds readily to the thoughts by which it is impressed, and habits of thought will produce their own effects, good or bad, upon it.”

“There is no physician like cheerful thought for dissipating the ills of the body: there is no comforter to compare with goodwill for dispersing the shadows of grief and sorrow. To live continually in thoughts of ill-will, cynicism, suspicion, and envy, is to be confined in a self-made prison hole. But to think well of all, to be cheerful with all, to patiently learn to find the good in all — such unselfish thoughts are the very portals of ( heaven) health: and to dwell day by day in thoughts of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their possessor.”

You know yourself that there are circumstances and people who have hurt you, who have wronged you. Trust me when I say that releasing them from your thoughts in forgiveness and peace will be your remedy. Don’t get me wrong, you do not have to like them, love them, agree with them or have to be around them or the circumstance…..but by holding on to the ill will or ill thoughts – YOU are letting them live rent free at your expense….YOUR good health and your abundant and vibrant life……You choose your own Outcome…….

This is the easiest thing to do, change your thoughts ….this will be the hardest things to do, change your thoughts….But YOU are worth it!
